Hand Vice

As its name suggests, you hold it in your hand.  Commonly used for holding sheet metal parts while these are having holes drilled into them.

Machine Vice

This vice sits upon the Pedestal Drill’s table and can be fixed in position securely using nuts and bolts, if required. It is normally used to hold metal of various cross sections to allow it to be drilled.

Engineers Vice

The one shown here is a heavy duty version.  It can easily hold quite large pieces of metal securely in place to allow them to be worked on.

Mole Grips

These can have the distance between the jaws adjusted to allow various sizes and shapes of metal to be gripped and held firmly.  When squeezed together the handles lock in position. Two or more pieces of material can be held together in place to allow them to be filed or welded or whatever process may be required.
